I've raised £2000 to help pay the vet bills for Tommy, the Undercliff Pony Rescue mule who was brutally stabbed in the face on Sunday night (8th August 2021)

Tommy is a 20 year old mule. He came to Undercliff Pony Rescue because of a lifetime of neglect.
For two years, Sharon has been working hard with him every day to help build his trust in humans. And from being a nervous little fella that we could not get close to, he has become a gentle loving mule, who loves nothing more than a cuddle (and some carrots ).
But we fear that has all changed. Sometime on Sunday night (8th August 2021), some evil excuse for a human being STABBED Tommy in the face with a serated blade. The wound was so extreme that it went right through his cheek and into his jaw and teeth.
The visible wounds are extreme, and we fear the damage we can't see (in his mind) will be even more severe in the long term. It's going to take a huge amount of work to get him right again, and we are devastated by this, given the amazing work Sharon has done with him.
The vet attended on Monday and spend a couple of hours stitching him up and administering antibiotics, sedatives and various other medications. The bill is going to be hefty for the treatment that Tommy has had, and the treatment he will require over coming months, so we desperately need as much help as we can get!
PLEASE HELP US GET TOMMY BACK TO FULL HEALTH
It's not the first time the ponies have been attacked in their "safe place". The perpurtrators in that instance were caught throwing rocks at the horses, and were dealt with by the police. Hopefuly these, dare I say it, even more evil #####'s will be caught and locked up! Any funds over and above what are required for the veterinary bill will go towards CCTV for the fields so that we have both a deterant and evidence should anything else occur.
Thank you all for your kind words and continuing support of Undercliff Pony Rescue.
(It goes without saying, if anyone hears anything about this vile cowardly attack on a defenceless animal, then please get in touch with us - in confidence, or with the Sussex police, quoting crime reference SXP-20210809-0620)
