Story
For the past year my 9 year old son Tommy has been taking part in powerchair football training sessions with a group of disabled adults who’s ultimate aim is to form a team and represent Bristol in the national league,
being half the age of his teammates has not phased him and he has shown great promise despite his young age and we strongly believe has the potential to go far in this rapidly developing sport for the severly disabled.
Unfortunately this is not a cheap sport to be involved in,When I was a kid I just needed a football and some grass and I was set, when you are disabled it iis far more complicated and with complications inevitably comes expense, oversized footballs cost £40 adapted chairs cost around £7000
As with anything in this space it is terribly underfunded and relies on charitable donations and the hard work and dedication of volunteers to survive, providing disabled people the opportunity to participate and enjoy group sports. The group currently have a very limited amount of chairs often resulting in someone having to sit out the session
we are aiming to raise enough money ro buy a chair for Tommy to use in training sessions and then competitive matches nationally.
competing in team sports growing up provides many benefit’s to the development of our children and beng able to paricipate is very easily taken for granted
with your help i would love to give my son that opportunity to participate.
Thank you
