Story
I was diagnosed 2 years ago with a condition call IGAN, this is an auto immune condition, my own immune systems is attacking my kidneys and quiet aggressively, in the two years I have been diagnosed I have had different courses of treatment to try slow down this condition but it has failed, it has led me to been on peritoneal dialysis on a daily basis, I chose this method of dialysis due to it been less harsh on my body than hemo and in the hope I get a transplant it would protect my veins and arteries that bit better, this condition leaves my fighting daily against fatigue, hypertension, weight management, endless appointments, endless blood tests to make sure I am getting enough dialysis and other levels in the blood are good, the fluid restrictions to help control blood pressure and swelling, the kidney friendly diet which may I add is hard to stick to when all you crave is something salty or a big pile of ice cream and even things like a big lump of meat, there is the endless hand washing in alcohol gel and antibacterial soap to prevent infections which could end you PD days, the massive deliverys every month of stock, stock that keeps you alive, the hospital staff who are there 24/7 weather you have a problem or just need a shoulder to cry on when things are tough and you feel like chucking in the towel, I am looking at raising some money to put in to the pot to buy more heaters and cyclers so people can have the independence I have been given to enjoy my family threw this serious illness thank you for taking the time to read what life is like in a breife description on PD xx
