Story

A few months ago I created a blog designed to get young girls thinking about the ways they treat each other and calling for more girls to just be nicer to each other. My thought process being, it doesn't matter if you don't wear make up, you're over weight or that you don't have the most up to date pair of shoes, you can still love and be loved and being happy on the inside is what really matters. As this idea developed I've been looking at ways to help all children, girls and boys, to be happier and kinder to themselves and others. As the blog is currently called Got Girls this will inevitably include a re-branding but i'm not quite there yet!

For me prevention is the key so I am focussing on 7-11 year olds. (I have a nearly 8 year old daughter myself!) I believe that if I can show, at a young age, how important it is to look after yourself and care for others, bullying can be reduced and happiness can be increased.

I want to make this into something that can make a real difference to children, so I am in the process of turning this into a programme of emotional well-being that can be delivered to children in, and out of, school. In addition to the sessions, I am a fair way through creating a journal to allow the children a safe space to write down their feelings, evaluate them and learn how to move forward with them. There are also lots of fun exercises for them to complete to help them relax too!

My background is training, I am a qualified trainer so I feel completely confident in my ability to put a programme together but the £250 i'd like to raise is so that I can undertake a training course that is specifically aimed at teaching these support mechanisms to children. If i manage to raise more than the original target of £250 there are many resources available i'd like to invest in some of those to help support the children during the sessions.

I never thought my idea would come as far as it has and I would be so so grateful for a pledge of any amount, but, I want to make it worth your while too, so if you pledge £15 I will send you a copy of the journal as soon as it is fully finished :)
