Story
Back in 2020 I was diagnosed with Arthritis in my jaw. I decided to start running, by completing the couch to 5k, and signed up for a 5k run in May 2020 to give me something to aim for.
Unfortunately COVID19 took hold, which meant the event was postponed. During this time my condition deteriorated rapidly following a botched surgery on the NHS. I was on Morphine due to severe pain, living on milkshakes due to being unable to eat and unable to complete my Health Visiting course.
Eventually I underwent surgery privately at Harley Street Specialist Hospital. Pioneering Stem Cell Therapy to regenerate my badly arthritic joint. My mouth opening before surgery was 8-10mm, immediately after surgery it was 20mm. 2 weeks later I was able to return to complete consolidation, and finally qualified in February 2021. After 4 weeks I was completely off all my pain medication and by 3 months I was able to eat "normally" again. My mouth opening is now 30-35mm.
I am now in a position to start running again and aim to complete the 5k run at the MK Marathon weekend on the 2nd May 2021, my 32nd Birthday!
I was initially fundraising for the Leighton Linslade Homeless Service, however they have since decided to close the service. A close family member of mine was diagnosed with Cancer during the COVID19 pandemic, so for this reason I have decided to change the charity to Macmillan Cancer Support UK. All donations will now go to them.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated last time. All your donations have been securely held. But any more support would be very much appreciated.
