    Story

This particular vehicle was built in 1957 and was designed for use in the event of a nuclear attack on this country. She would have been used to pump 1000's of gallons of fresh water to parts of the country suffering the attack. Of the 3000 vehicles made, only a few survive to this day, and not all of them in a roadworthy or working condition. I have spent countless hours and pots of money getting this vehicle and its full compliment of kit back to a roadworthy and show condition. The pump still pushes water at up to 1000 gallons a minute and is very impressive to watch. I took her on the 2017 classic lorry London to Brighton run and was amazed at being given a trophy for 3rd in class. However, it was the exterior paint finish and that stopped her being rated higher. Therefore i am trying to raise some money to fund a respray and get the vehicle back to how it would have been when it left the factory just over 60 years ago. I have been quoted figures of £4500 - £5000 for a total repaint which is money i simply cannot afford on my own. This is the only thing that lets the vehicle down now. I have had her converted to run on unleaded fuel and replaced all the needed mechanical items including a major service, full set of new tyres and a brake overhaul and re-line to keep her running and reliable. Maybe you know of a commercial vehicle painter that might want to take this project on and get her looking like new again so she can be around to impress people for another 60 odd years? She has had a full internal locker and cab repaint, it is just the exterior that needs doing now. I keep her in a secure, dry, hard standing barn and only take to her to shows and events in the dry weather but she is being requested more and more often now but i do not charge for this. Just seeing the smile on visitors faces is good enough for me. Please help and try to raise funds for a repaint to this iconic vehicle. If you need her for any charity event or public show, please get in touch.
