For everyone who knows my father, you’d know that he is one of the strongest, most healthy men around, unfortunately this year has not been a good one. At the end of January my dad was rushed to hospital where he spent days having awful, painful tests. It came back that he had suffered from a brain hemorrhage. He was off work for some time to recover, but was soon back on his feet, even when he shouldn’t of been. Luckily, my dad was just about able to afford this period of time off.

On 9th March, my dad was hit with bad news again. My beloved Grandfather had lost his battle with cancer. Although my dad was still recovering from the bleed on his brain, he stepped up and was the rock for the family at such a difficult time.

During all of this, throughout the year my dad was suffering from stomach problems, doctors diagnosing him with IBS. Unfortunately this stomach issue got pushed back due to the hemorrhage and sad passing. The past few months, my dad has become extremely unwell, unable to eat, unable to keep liquids or solids down without being sick or in agony. My once stocky father, has now lost 3 stone in weight, leaving him tired, skinny, pale and glum.

A few weeks ago, he was diagnosed with Sigmoid Colon Cancer. Another bombshell for an already terrible year. He will need to have surgery to remove the tumor from his colon, and then chemotherapy to make sure the devil is completely gone. This means more time off work for my dad whilst he recovers, however long that is going to take.

During Christmas and New Year, my dad and his partner had booked to go away abroad to refresh and relax after all the pain this year had thrown their way. Now, they have had to cancel their dream holiday and use the savings to be able to get through the next few months.

Let’s please get my dad and his partner the money to be able to go on that holiday he so much deserves!
