Story
Walking back to happiness...in 2017 my lovely mother-in-law was diagnosed with a spinal tumour (thankfully benign) which resulted in her totally losing the use of her legs just before Xmas at the age of 88. Being the determined woman that she is, following surgery at Walton Neuro, she was convinced that she could and would return to almost full health if she followed her physio's advice and exercised appropriately. Six months after her surgery in December 2017, she started her recovery with her first tentative steps out of a wheelchair and today she walks largely unaided, with the occasional use of a stick when she feels less confident of ground levels. She still carries out volunteer work twice a week (or more) for the local hospital with the Royal Voluntary Service. To celebrate this achievement, she has decided that on her birthday in August - at the age of 90 - she will fly down the quarry in Bethesda on Europe's fastest zip wire with her three grandsons flying alongside her, to raise funds for the Air Ambulance in Wales. Please help me to show that her determination and will to recover can be a lesson to us all, that giving up is not an option no matter how old you are when the problem begins, and that you are right to believe that the quality of your life is important day by day. Thank you x.
