Story

Hi, I am Tori, a 22 year old Durham University student with permanent nerve damage to my lower left leg (drop foot), following a devastating riding accident in 2009. My life was turned upside down until I found competitive clay shooting and I wish to encourage others who have disabilities and are in similar situations to get involved in competitive clay sports. I would like to show people that despite all the various setbacks, surgery and problems I have with my leg, that I still continue to train and compete with a smile! Hopefully in people reading my story, they may be inspired to go give clay shooting a go and have a better understanding of how a disability is not the restricting factor.

After joining the GB talent pathway in January, I focused my shooting on the Olympic Trap discipline and was later introduced to a para-trap sub-category. Following finding the right coach (Hamish Patterson) and a new gun (with thanks to Ling Shooting), all efforts are now focused on being able to compete internationally for Team GB.

I have been selected to represent Team GB at the World Championship, France, in September and the World Cup, Italy, in October. However, this is all self-funded due to para-trap not yet having an official place at the Paralympics thus sporting grants are minimal, making training expenses ahead of the competitions alongside flights, entry fees, accommodation and cartridges extremely expensive- particularly on a student budget!

Please do message me with any questions from further information on my leg to how to get involved with shooting personally. Follow my journey and regular updates through liking my facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/VClinchShooting/
