I've raised £500 to Help with funding Torphichen Civic week & children's galaday.

We are a very small committee of 6 strong and we fundraise all year long to be able to fund the highlight of the village year namely Torphichen Children's Galaday and Civic Week. Our crowning pageant is based on the true story of the romantic meeting of King James V & his Queen, Maire de Guise in the village in 1538.
King James had selected Lindsay the Lord Preceptor of Torphichen to be Champion to the new Queen, he escorted Maire & her royal entourage from France, to Leith. The Royal party travelled to Torphichen to meet King James who had travelled from nearby Linlithgow, legend has it this was their first kiss on Scottish soil.
This was an important moment in Scottish history as it saw the continuation of the House of Stewart with the birth of Mary Queen of Scots at Linlithgow Palace in 1542.Any funds we receive would primarily benefit the all the residents of Torphichen by providing the village with a pagent which recreates that historical meeting and by the staging of Torphichen Civic Week. During our civic week we have events which are all inclusive, that will appeal to both children and older adults and all our civic week events have free entry so everyone can enjoy them .We feel this is an important factor in making our Civic week one of the best in West Lothian!
Unfortunately the only help with funding we receive is a small council grant all other funding comes from the villagers themselves. As with every other voluntary group we are finding it more and more difficult to raise the necessary funds to survive we now have to appeal to you via crowdfunding if you can help us out in any way, we would be most grateful .
