Story

The Wesley Centre is the old Sunday School Hall of the Methodist Church but in 2019 it is used for a whole host of community activities put on by local organisations and groups, ranging from Zumba to theatre company rehearsals, children's parties to art classes.

With such an old building obviously comes costly repairs and maintenance and unfortunately the time has come when the 100+ year old roof has reached the end of it's life-span.

It is now beyond repairs and patching and a complete new roof is required so the church have started a Wesley Centre Roof Fund and Rev. Tim Francis is planning his own fund-raising activity.

On Saturday 6th July he will be cycling his own 'Tour de Francis' .... he will be riding (on an exercise bike) on the stage in The Wesley Centre, in full view of a full hall of coffee-morning goers, and he will be cycling 4 stages of 30 minutes each.

Tim doesn't have a typical cycling physique ;-) so this is perhaps more of a challenge than it may first seem and whilst he doesn't have a set distance, his aim is to cycle as many kilometres as he can in the time and not collapse at the end!

You are invited to join members of the church and community on the day for bacon butties/coffee/light lunches and you will be able to "Guess the Distance" he will complete, but Tim would also be extremely grateful for your sponsorship to give him motivation to keep going through the 4 stages of his race and to support the roof fund for this busy community facility.
