To support both The Firefighters Charity and Prostate Cymru, the new wholetime firefighter recruits for South Wales Fire and Rescue will be doing a cumulative 900 mile watt bike ride from our training centre in Cardiff Gate. The 900 miles is significant to us as it is the total distance from the training centre to each fire station in the south wales region.
Please help us by donating to our page to allow us to support our two chosen charities in this all-day event. Updates will be provided by the South Wales Fire and Rescue media team. Please give generously and help to support your fire and rescue community when they need it most.
The Firefighters charity was founded in 1940 with an initial donation of £24.
The Firefighters charity provide support to the whole fire service community delivering both mental and physical health support. They support retired, serving or dependants of firefighters whatever their role was within the fire and rescue service.
As the new recruits for South Wales Fire and Rescue, we aim to raise as much as possible to support this fundamental charity to provide essential care for anyone who may be in need of the service.
Prostate Cymru was founded in 2003 under a different name. The previous name was based on a treatment of prostate cancer. It then became Prostate Cymru in 2010.
Prostate Cymru Is the leading prostate health charity in Wales supporting individuals who have suffered from prostate disease or prostate cancer. They aim to raise awareness and educate people about the disease that effects one in eight men in Wales and that chance can increase to one in three if there is a family history of the disease.
Prostate Cymru support treatment, research and support the education of medical professionals and students. They have even donated a Da Vinci robotic system that can perform minimally invasive surgery and has funded the training of surgeons using the equipment.
Thank you very much for your support and please give generously!
