I've raised £1000 to Empower 500 girls and boys through sports.

Akwaaba Volunteers is an NGO in Accra, Ghana. Our aim is to "Brighten the Future of the Next Generation" & alleviate poverty for underprivileged children and disadvantaged communities through our range of projects working in Health, Education and Sports.
In September, with will be joining forces with our friends at Kicking Off, we will be hosting a tournament for 500 children from our community which will encompass all of our aims. Teams and Schools from across Accra have been invited to participate in a day of sports (Football for the boys and Netball for the girls) and fun. There will be music, dancing, culture, games, artists, sports, education, prizes as well as providing every child with food and a medical and health check. The tournament aims to celebrate and empower the community we are working with as we continue to use sports as a tool to positively impact underprivileged children and change lives.
With your help we can make an even bigger impact on the lives of the children that we will be working with. We are raising money so we can provide every child attending the tournament with a long lasting treated mosquito net. In Ghana approximately 20,000 children still die every year from Malaria, an easily preventable disease and we can help to prevent this! We will also provide every girl with a menstruation kit complete with reusable sanitary pads and the education they need to use them properly. We want to end Period Poverty in our community and the stigma surrounding menstruation!
All donation no matter how big or small will be hugely appreciated. If we go beyond our target we will use the extra funds to run a sanitation project and clean up the community prior to the tournament.
