    Story

The man that we loved as our friend, colleague, team mate and brother has tragically died. Dwain Inniss is somebody who will be missed by every single person who made contact with him. A caring, smart, dancing clown he may have been to the world, but he fought harder than most of us will ever need to in our lives.

Those who know Dwain well will have some understanding of the obstacles he has had to overcome, to live the brilliant life that he had. Although he battled with congenital deafness, severe and enduring mental illness, and Tardive Dyskenisia, he made his way in the world with two simple goals. He firstly wanted a normal life, like any other young man. The other was to make people around him as happy as he was. And wow, he really did achieve this!

Living a 'mainstream life' for just 10 or so years, my brother Dwain has held down a job for two years, won countless football competitions, performed as a dancer, assisted dance workshops, partied like the rest of us and respected every single human being he met. I just don't think the rest of us would have thrived the way he did, if we were dealt a similar hand...

People know I've fought for the past year with the joke that is Universal Credit for Dwain (we did win, a week before Christmas.) In 2017 Dwain worked two jobs, to pay his bills. One of which paid him £1.75 per hour. He was exhausted and broke. Despite this situation I still saw him stop and buy food for homeless people in the East End. He was would speak to them gently, wishing them a peaceful night. It made me realise the kind of person I want to be.

In his death he was everything he wanted to be and more. He brought joy and humour into all of our lives, and openly appreciated every one of us. For this reason, I am asking all of the people who knew Dwain Inniss, to help provide a fantastic East End funeral for Tower Hamlets' Finest. The family are from a humble background, and are applying for the social fund basics. But I think we can do better for our Dwain. With respect, all of us reading this will have a background and skill set that is not accessible to many families in the East End. So if you can give generously, please do. But if you can give a fiver, that's means so much too.

Just think of the last time you saw Dwain, and the smile that you couldn't wipe off your face...

I appreciate everyone's generosity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
