Story
As Christmas approaches, and we all get ready to provide gifts and presents to our own loved ones, we should think of those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
I have decided that this year, I'd like to try and make a difference to Children, who may not have the same Christmas experience as ourselves, that we take for granted.
Derian House is a children's hospice providing palliative care and respite for those children with life-shortening conditions.
Derian is currently supporting more than 300 families who have a child or young adult suffering from a life shortening condition, as well as providing bereavement support for a further 200 families.
Due to a lot of the children's conditions, they cannot play with 'normal' toys, but love things such as:
- Arts & Crafts
- Interactive toys
- Board games
- Story books (especially sensory or interactive - i.e. buttons or textures)
I would like to raise money to get some of these items for the children to use within the hospice.
You could donate if you wish, or alternatively, if you'd like to buy an extra gift this Christmas, and donate this to our cause, that would be much appreciated.
Far from being a place of sorrow, Derian House is a place of love, laughter and respect. Everyone visiting remarks on the happy, welcoming atmosphere, and even at the worst time in their lives, parents speak of their gratitude for the safe haven that is Derian House.
