Story
Help me to raise the standard of teaching to some of the worlds poorest children. As you know I love Africa, have a passion for teaching and learning and want to use my skills to help others. I need your help!
Street Child helps the poorest children in West Africa and Nepal to go to school. They are dedicated to empowering vulnerable children through education and have a special focus on girls’ education and education in emergencies. In some of the most remote areas of Sierra Leone children often miss out on the opportunity to gain even the most basic literacy and numeracy skills. Street Child's rural schools work focuses on providing access to education for hundreds of children by building schools and training teachers.
As part of their International Teacher Training Programme, I'll be mentoring teachers to help build confidence and teaching skills in the classroom, exchanging knowledge and experiences between teachers around the world and Sierra Leone or Liberia and gathering content and knowledge to use in my classroom back home.
Since 2010 Street Child has created access to education for over 17,000 children in rural communities across Sierra Leone and trained over 400 teachers. Joining Street Child on the International Teacher Training Programme is a chance for you and I to contribute and make a difference to this vital work.

Having taught children in Zambia I've seen how African children are desperate to learn. They really want to do well and to rise above their circumstances. Education can change the course of a child's life, and their family too. Especially the girls.
