HAYDOS is a no kill animal rescue

This organisation only exists due to a small group of volunteers who tirelessly try to raise funds and awareness of these poor animals plight. Haydos is run by a amazing lady named Turkan dagdelen ( please read her story )

Turkan was born in small village in Ortaća Mugla Turkey. Her father moved to Germany in 1970 and his family joined him there in 1976. Turkan served an apprenticeship in Germany within the hotel industry. In 1988 she lost her mother in a car accident whilst the family were returning to Turkey. Upon the family's recovery both mentally and physically, she worked at the local airport in Dalaman. Turkan later left Turkey and lived and worked in England for a period of 13 years. Following her time in England she became a volunteer in Sri Lanka caring for deprived children. Her travels then took her to India to work and this is when Turkan became involved in the care of animals. Upon her return to Ortaća Turkan wanted to live her dream and set up a small resteraunt. The idea soon came to a sudden end when an abused and starving dog came and cried at her feet for help, she was deeply shocked and moved by this experience and began to see more and more how dogs were suffering ,starving, tortured and poisoned so she decided to over an animal welfare organisation that at this time only existed on paper. Turkan completely revitalised the organisation in a short time. She tirelessly protested against the cruelty and circumstances of the animals in the strongest terms even resorting to going on hunger strike, she petitioned the authorities to make them aware of the situation and asked for their support Turkan has been attacked for her caring efforts and not just verbally. Despite all this she continued with her plan. The more difficult the situation was made for her the more determined she became to succeed in her mission. After a long struggle she finally gained support from the Municipality (council ) and established Haydos which is home to over 700 dogs , 250 cats a donkey and any other animal that might need help . Turkan has neutered, fed, given operations and cared for many,many animals, sick and wounded animals are never turned away , her love for these animals is unconditional.

She has to date used up all her own savings and more such is her dedication.

Sadly since the end of 2014 the support from the council has been withdrawn so Turkan and her animals are yet again on a daily survival.
