    Story

Sometimes we take for granted that we can hop in our car, or walk longer distances to get to wherever we need to be: I am currently fundraising in order to raise money to assist with the purchase of a much needed replacement community minibus for registered charity Bishop’s Stortford Community Transport CIO.

This charity provides much needed transport for many elderly, disabled, infirm, people who are without transport and live in areas not covered by commercial bus companies. The community bus services they provide such as the Stortford Shuttle, Saturday Shopper Hopper and Hadham Hopper are a vital lifeline for many: These community bus services means that those who can‘t get about so well can still utilise other vital services such as doctors, local hospital and visit supermarkets for supplies etc; it also means that many of those individuals can stay in touch with the community and socialise with family and friends, which of course promotes wellbeing, reduces loneliness and assists with retaining independent living for longer. It also offers affordable transport solutions for many other charities and local not for profit community groups.

Having recently chipped a bone in my ankle I had to put off my own fitness challenge that was planned for September. However, my husband Colin Gaynor kindly agreed to help me fundraise for this charity that is close to my heart and took part in the Great North Run on Sunday 8th September and completed it in a fantastic time of under 1hr 35 mins.

I would be immensely grateful if you could please show your support by way of a personal donation, or if you are able to, organise a fundraising event and donate the proceeds to this crowdfunding page in order to help me raise the essential funds we need to replace our much needed community minibus. No matter how big or small your donation is greatly appreciated.

All proceeds will be passed on to Bishop’s Stortford Community Transport CIO, charity number: 1172934. Thank you!
