Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
My husband Sam was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. In May 2015 my lovely hubby had a blocked V.P shunt which resulted in surgery Unfortunately a few hours after the op he was rushed back to theatre where they discovered a massive bleeding to the brain.
For a couple of weeks things were touch and go.
The 6 months spent in hospital were not without worry. The shunt was replaced twice more due to infections and problems. Times I don't want to ever relive.
After 6 months Sam was transferred go a Neuro disability centre.
I was told he would need turning every four hours and maybe sit out in a chair if hoisted for maximum of four hours.
Sam wasn't able to move or communicate.
Seeing this kind gentle man reduced to this state made me all the more determined to fight. I never believed what they told me and made it abundantly clear I would fight to get him every help I could.
During his time in the care home I visited every day and helped with his care. I began to notice slight movements and responses but only to me. Feb 2017 he had another shunt revision due to the shunt blocking again.
After this Sam spoke to us, could swallow. Drink eat. It was amazing.
This was it... The push now came to get him home.
We achieved this in Sept 2017,and since then his health's improving and he's now walking a limited amount with a frame.
The brain injury has left him virtually blind and with VERY poor short term memory, which impacts greatly on daily life.
This man worked for the NHS for 22 years as a mental health nurse and now I want to give him something back
Doesn't come too cheap as we need adapted accommodation and use of aids. Travelling would be limited to couple of hours maximum as Sam gets very anxious.
I've looked at centreparcs and revitalise.. Both disabled friendly.
We have now got to the stage of taking on anything(within reason).....
Life's not always been kind to us but we pick ourselves up and carry on.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
