The Shakespeare was once a very popular bar, it closed down when times got hard and apart from a brief reopening as an arcade place it has been left to rot. Myself and my partner are a local couple, we have rented the building and have been granted planning permission from Middlesbrough council in order to do this. We want to be able to restore it back into a thriving pub serving freshly cooked meals, Myself and my partner will run the place and create jobs for the local community as we need bar staff and kitchen staff. It will be a Freehouse as we are not tied to any brewery. A lot of the work we have done ourselves with the help of some very good friends. But because its just been left to rot the work is harder than anticipated, this is why we are asking for help from you lovely people. We need to raise money for toilets, kitchen equipment and bar tables and chairs, we wont take without giving and this is why we will be a pub with a diffrence as we aim to put any profits made back into the community by hosting private christmas partys for the local childrens homes and the womans refuge centres, we will host many fundrasing events for local charitys and we would also like to offer live music events such as open mic nights and their likes. We would also welcome any charitys that would like us to do fundrasing for themselves. So it will be a an historic pub that gives back.
