Story

We are currently running a project to build an Outdoor Learning Zone for Gargunnock Primary School. The original idea arose in October 2017 relating to the fact that as a rural school we had no shelter for the children in the bad weather. This then evolved into building an outdoor multifunctional and purpose learning space for the children and surrounding support groups. The ethos behind this build is that it will support the school action plan and curriculum and a design will be made up of the ideas of the children at the school. This will encourage the children to engage with the environment and learn about sustainability - all while having lots of fun!

This Project has been supported by Gargunnock Primary School, wider community and the pupils are actively engaged on the design and use of the space. The intention is to complete the build by May to allow the children who have supported the build to experience and use the space, specifically those in the senior years before they move to high school.

The children have created shoe box designs to reflect how they would use the space to enhance their learning experience. This ranges from playing musical instruments, reading, singing, playing games, quiet time and practicing their lines for nativity! They have also have innovative ideals about how they can decorate the building to blend in with the already beautiful rural scenery within the village.

The project has received tremendous support from the local community and we have received donations from other areas and we are just short of our target amount so any support to this valuable cause will enable us to build this Outdoor Learning Zone and bring the children of Gargunnock Primary Schools Vision to life!
