Weʼve raised £8,914 to Help us now he is home. This living legend, super-man has battled his way through untold pain. His recovery will be our reward :-)

Funded on Wednesday, 7th October 2020

    Story

After several grueling, painful operations James has made it home. Wouldn't it be great if we could meet the £10,000 target so that we can support James through the next few months of recovery. Winter is coming and we have no idea what we will be facing as the 'R' number steadily increases. The thought that James might need further treatment and need to return to hospital is unthinkable after he has battled so hard to get home.

Thank you for your thoughts, regards, well wishes, 'positive vibes' and prayers.

    Update from Jo:-

Well, oh my goodness, it has been one week since this page was set up for us, we as a family are blown away by this page! My dad is a fighter and a hero and at the moment we are taking it day by day, operation by operation, the hardest part is not being able to go and give him a hug....

We are truly humbled by the kindness that has been shown and I would like to say that this money really will be a massive help and make such a difference. Dad can concentrate on getting better and most importantly coming home, The Woolpack Inn doesn't run itself!

Thankyou doesn't seem enough but it is all we can say at the moment so from the bottom of our hearts thankyou thankyou thankyou to each and everyone of you for donating, sharing this story and offering your support and positivity.

James Christie, much loved by many, has suffered life changing injuries following a particularly horrific accident.

While 'holidaying at home' last Monday (17th August 2020 at approximately 4.30) and beginning to unwind in the tranquility and beauty of the Northamptonshire countryside, the unimaginable happened.

In the blink of an eye James found himself battling to save his own life.

The horrific details of this horrendous accident are being spared as they are extremely upsetting.

This is what happened only 3 1/2 hours into their much needed summer break. Having already weathered an actual storm; Clare and James resumed their cruise along the canal. Ahead James saw a moored boat on his right and a bridge in front with another boat approaching. Here James played it safe and gave space to the other (on-coming) boat by reversing out of the way. Unfortunately the back of the boat hit a sill or large stone causing the tiller (steering arm) to swing round and push him off the back of the boat. James was now battling with the propeller and the water. James was in a situation too terrible to contemplate.

Clare didn't see this happen but she became acutely aware of the danger James was in. She managed to hold on to him until help arrived. Many people came to their aid and James was rushed to hospital.

James has suffered life changing injuries and has already endured many hours of surgery and treatment as well as severe pain and trauma. There is still much more surgery and treatment going to be needed.

James,' with his 'glass half full' attitude to life and fighting, super‐human spirit has already achieved so much but he and his family still have a long way to go before their lives can resume a more comfortable state. Their lives though, will never be the same again.

James and Clare are two of the kindest, generous and compassionate people you will ever meet. They are always there for us, their friends. Many of us are feeling helpless at the moment, there is very little we can do to bring any comfort or support to these wonderful people.

James is self‐employed and Clare is still suffering from a debilitating infection from last year's holiday. James' injuries are so severe that he will be having more surgery and treatment for the forseeable future .

We ask ourselves 'what can we do to help?'

We could offer some help with travel and care costs so that Clare, Adam and Jo don't have to worry too much. They may well need more and different help and support but for now your donations may help relieve some of the anxieties and stresses the family are suffering.

If you would like to help please donate what you can.

Many, many thanks for your time, thoughts and kind consideration xx

Thank you so much for all your generous donations. We have raised so much in less than a week! James has had more surgery and a blood transfusion. He is a true trooper. He is going to need our continued support. It is heart-warming to see how much love and respect this super - man has from so many.
