Here at Creating Futures our mission is to inspire young people and help to raise their aspirations so that they can achieve the very best in life, despite the multitude of obstacles that they face. Working primarily in areas of deprivation in Rushmoor and the surrounding areas the young people we support live in and around ne of the country's top 20% of multiple deprivation. We have lower levels of GCSE attainment than the rest of the South East and the troubles young people face include an emerging gang culture, drug and alcohol misuse (often their own or their carers), anti social behaviour, poor school attendance and disengagement. Our young people often tell us that they have little hope, fear they will never get a good job and feel isolated and vulnerable.

In early 2017 we were fortunate to receive funding to enable a North London based DJ and MC Academy to run some sessions with our young people - engaging them through the medium of grime/rap/hip hop and learning DJ and MCing skills. The young people loved these opportunities and for 8 weeks our youth clubs were buzzing. We would love to harness this energy and help young people who are disillusioned and 'lost' to engage productively with our youth team and provide opportunities for them to learn new skills, develop their communication skills and maybe even discover the next Stormzy! Through the purchase of a decommissioned ambulance our vision is to create a mobile DJ/MC bus that we can take out and about into the community - so that we can interact with young people where they hang out. We will use it to engage with young people and have fun sessions but it's so much more than that. Young people will be involved at the outset - from fundraising through to the refit, vehicle maintenance, vehicle mechanics and helping us choose the relevant equipment. We will then be able to offer young people the opportunity to take ownership of the bus for festivals and events to showcase their talents.
