Story

Two weeks ago my best friend of 30 years was on her usual rounds at work, caring in the community, when out of the blue she suffered an Epileptic seizure, something that had never happened to her before. A scary experience in itself, it was also one which resulted in her sustaining an horrific Spinal injury.

Doctors prepared her for the worst, that she may never walk again! At age 42 and a single mother to a teenage daughter and Autistic young son, this was a huge blow, and we all feared for her future.

Thankfully, expert neurological surgeons at The Walton Centre, Liverpool, operated on Tracy for 8 hours in an attempt to piece her spine back together. They succeeded in doing so by fitting permanent rods and bolts to her spine. Despite the success of the surgery, Tracy has an enormous road ahead if she is ever to recover fully, and now discovering that she has Osteoporosis, it's a further blow and makes the possibility of recovery even harder.

We, Tracy's friends and family, are helping and supporting as much as we can, but sadly it's not enough to see her get the best help. Whilst the NHS have provided a small amount of basic aids to enable her to go home, she needs help with even the smallest of tasks which we take for granted every day. Due to government cut backs she hasn't got the best equipment to aid her recovery in these early days. Tracy must also go onto a waiting list for the physiotherapy she needs, which in an ideal world she would be having right now to give her the best chance at getting back on her feet and the chance to get her future back.

If we were able to raise enough funds, we could invest in the extra equipment Tracy needs and allow her to access early Therapy through private healthcare providers.

Tracy, nor I, have ever asked for anything ever in our lives, but if anyone is able to help us reach out and get the help that Tracy needs, I know she and her children would be forever grateful.

Many Thanks in advance
A desperate friend
