The Tree by Tree story.
Tree by tree is a project set up by Tino Rawnsley.

I have been a woodworker and woodsman all my life. My passion for trees, began in childhood playing in the woods and coppices of the North Downs of Kent.

Throughout a life spent working with trees, as bowmaker and boatbuilder to woodsman and tree planter, I have been acutely aware of the degradation of the environment and recognise the feeling of powerlessness many have in the face of the constant assaults upon the natural world.

In time I have come to realise that planting a tree is one of the most simple yet profoundly positive acts we can make. I have found that many people share this feeling but have nowhere to plant them.

In late 2016 I was diagnosed with Motor Nurone Disease a life limiting disease for which there is currently no cure. My longstanding wish to plant a Forest of Hope, a legacy for everyone, has become an imperative.

When a friend offered me a two acre field to kick-start the project, the Tree by Tree movement was born.

The idea is simple: When we raise enough money to buy a small plot of land we will plant it with woodland that has open access for everyone, forever. And we will celebrate the trees and the woodland and the people who made it possible. By having a festival at which we start raising money to purchase a plot of land to plant more trees on.

And so the project grows. Ordinary people, planting trees in small woodlands, that together become forests of hope. Tree by tree.
