Story

I am taking part in my first triathlon in a couple of weeks in support of 'Camp Charnwood', a Leicestershire based charity who run an annual summer camp specifically for children aged 5+ years old with Type 1 Diabetes. The Camp is run solely by volunteers (parents, hospital staff and Type 1 adults) and aims to teach children that Type 1 does not need to stop them doing anything they want to whilst also teaching them about being independent in managing their condition.

It costs over £400.00 per child to attend Camp Charnwood for activities and catering which is met by parental donations and fantastic charitable support, like us and you!

Camp Charnwood matters to us because it helps put a positive spin on being Type 1. Thomas has Type 1 as do many of his friends we now have the pleasure of knowing. This disease presents so many daily challenges for Thomas and his friends as well as long term complications, many of which I am sure you are all aware of. It makes a huge difference to Thomas and his friends attending events where they are able to meet other families in a similar situation and this really helps Thomas realise how being diabetic should not stop him doing anything he wants to. Thank you for your support!
