I'm raising £2500 to TRi/Y for England

I’m Nick and I’m going to TRi/Y for England.
On June 7th, I’m setting off on a solo endurance challenge, where I’ll:
- Cycle the length of the country,
- Climb the highest mountain
AND
- Swim the length of the longest lake
Why on earth would I do something like that? For the England Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) team.
The 2026 World Cup is in Australia, and as the reigning World Champions having won the inaugural PDRL World Cup in 2022, we’re ready to defend our title.
As cheesy as it sounds, PDRL has changed my life.
Age 20, I had my right arm amputated above the elbow after a traffic accident. I was in the midst of my law degree and planning to join the army upon graduating, so losing an arm and becoming disabled wasn’t exactly on my bingo card for that year.
A few years later, I found PDRL thanks to a work colleague whose brother had started playing.
Since then, it’s given me the opportunity to play competitive sport again, to meet friends for life, and to represent my country - something I never thought I’d have the opportunity to do. It’s also got me through some of the most difficult times in my life, when I’ve really struggled with my mental health.
I wanted to give something back.
So I’m taking on my biggest challenge yet to raise funds for our 2026 World Cup campaign, and that’s how I came up TRi/Y for England… TRY like rugby and TRI like triathlon, get it?
I’ve given myself 12 days to do 651 miles of cycling, climbing and swimming, covering over 11,300 meters of elevation, and eating my way through approx. 100 Kendal Mint Cakes along the way.
If that isn’t enough to convince you to donate, remember I’m a ginger and I’m doing all of this in June, squeezing it in between rugby fixtures.
Every penny donated will go towards the team, as I’m covering all costs of this challenge out of my own pocket… Yes, even the ££££s I’ll be spending on factor 50+ suncream.
So please dig deep, give what you can, and I’ll do my best not start swimming in circles.
If you or anyone you know is interested in brand sponsorship, there are logo spots available on my cycling jersey, so please reach out to me at nicholasandrewkennedy@gmail.com.
