Story

The 8:56 Foundation was set up in memory of Lee Calton. Lee was a massive football fan and would catch the 08:56 train out of King’s Lynn station on a Saturday morning with his friends.

Trundley Group is proud to support the 8:56 Foundation in their mission to promote men’s mental health awareness and remove the stigma associated with it. According to recent UK statistics, men are three times more likely than women to die by suicide, which highlights the urgent need for greater awareness of men’s mental health issues and the importance of encouraging conversations about them.
The construction industry, which the Trundley Group are a part of, also faces significant challenges when it comes to mental health. According to a study by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), 30% of construction industry employees have experienced mental health problems due to their work. By partnering with the 8:56 Foundation, Trundley Group hope to support the mental wellbeing of their own employees as well contribute to addressing the wider societal issue.
On May 20, 2023, 25 Trundley Group staff and associates will be climbing Mount Snowdon in Wales to raise funds for the 8:56 Foundation. This will be a significant challenge for the team, but it pales in comparison to the challenges faced by those struggling with their mental health. We believe that it’s time to talk. Time to talk more openly about men’s mental health and remove the stigma surrounding it. We invite you to join us in supporting a worthy and important cause by donating to our fundraising efforts.

The 8:56 Foundation aims to raise awareness, increase the profile of support and reduce the stigma associated with mental health. By using sport as an aid we want to encourage men to talk and reduce the risk of loneliness and isolatio
