Having fought a heroic 4 year battle against cancer, Lee Welland was sadly taken from us on Sunday 6th September, 2020. Lee's positive attitude and persistent determination to keep getting up after every knockdown, was inspiring to all those that knew him and so many other people who he'd never met, via his regular blogs & posts on social media.

The recent rise in coronavirus cases has forced the Government to introduce stricter rules on social distancing and reduce the numbers of people able to attend social gatherings. Unfortunately this also means that many friends and family may not be able to show their love and support in the ways we normally would.

Anyone who knew Lee, knows that he savoured every minute he spent with his friends and family, but his first thoughts were always with "His Girls", Sarah and Eva. Lee would have wished for nothing more than to see his beautiful daughter have the best possible start in life and a helping hand along the way, which is where the idea for this page was born.

Having spoken to and gained permission from Lee's family, this "Daddy's Gift" page has been created, with the sole intention being; to enable all those who want to do "something" (but don't quite know what to do), to make a small donation to help give Eva the same helping hand in life, that Lee would have wanted to do himself, if he were able to.

All money raised through this page, will then be placed in a dedicated Trust Fund, for Eva, awaiting a time when her Dad would have wanted to give her a helping hand (such as helping towards a deposit for her first house, support through university etc).

Once the trust is formed, Lee's wife Sarah and his brother Mark will be appointed to act and serve as the trustees, to ensure that the money is appropriately used, for the best possible purpose(s), as and when the time comes.

Clarifications and the Code of Fundraising Practice:

An optimistic target of £10,000 was originally set, but having raised nearly £14,000 so far (by 12.10.2020) I have increased the target to £15,000.

THE PAGE WILL BE CLOSED AND ALL FUNDS WITHDRAWN AT THE END OF OCTOBER.

ALL the money donated through this page will be placed in a dedicated Trust Fund for Eva. A local firm of Financial Advisers has agreed to help establish the trust without any fees being incurred, meaning that ALL of the money donated reaches the intended purpose. The sole beneficiary of all donations to justgiving (and subsequently the trust fund) will be Lee's daughter, Eva Welland. A minimum of 2 of Lee's family members will be appointed and serve as trustees and guardians of the trust to ensure it is managed in Eva's best interests. The code of fundraising practice, will be adhered to throughout this fundraising campaign.
