Story
The historic tug France-Hayhurst has been a much loved attraction at Liverpool's Royal Albert Dock for over a decade. She has been an inspiration to schools, women's groups, retired and current seafarers, international watersport enthusiasts, local and international entertainers and most recently provided a home base for the Marine Radio Museum Society. She was about to be the focal point for a new project to encourage women and girls to engage with opportunities within maritime industries, and to overcome any current barriers in developing their potential. On January 2nd 2023 she sank while moored at Canning Dock ahead of travelling across the Mersey for a hull inspection. We are still unclear as to the cause but are firmly focused on raising and repairing her so that she can continue to inspire anyone faced with overwhelming obstacles. The only way is up.

2 years agoJust one of the impressive blueprints from the original construction drawings of the tug. One of the many records of our tug held by the National Waterways Museum. We're counting down to her being raised in ten days time...
