Story

I believe that EVERYONE has the right to the BEST education - no matter how rich or poor they are, or where they have been born.

I left a little bit of my heart in India, when I spent 12 weeks living and volunteering with Restless Development in 2016. I knew it wouldn't be long until I return

Education, the basis of development and growth, but something that in 2018 still isn't accessible to everyone. And sometimes it is accessible but only in very basic level. A little over one-third of all children who start school, complete their education. At least 35 million children aged 6 – 14 years do not attend school. 53% of girls in the age group of 5 to 9 years are illiterate. In India

I have decided to take a trip to India to work on 3 incredible volunteer projects across the country. Each projects main focus is Education and the empowerment of young people and children. I would not be able to make this trip possible without all your guys support and donations.

The donations will go to funding my trip, with visas, flights, travel etc, but any left over will be donated equally between the three organisations I am volunteering with.

The first organisation a I am going to work with is Shanti Bhavan Childrens Project, who run a residential school called Shanti Bhavan for children who come from families living on under $1 a day.The non profit organisation relies heavily on volunteers from around the world to support their teaching staff. Volunteer positions at Shanti Bhavan are very competitive and are based on merit! After a grueling application process, I was lucky enough to be chosen to volunteer with them! During my time at Shanti Bhavan I will be living and working on campus, my day working day will be from 6am to 9pm - so this will be no means be a holiday!

Here is a short video introducing the school.

There is also a four part documentary series on Netflix which follows some of the female students throughout their journey: Netflix Documentary

Or read more about the school on their Website.
