Story
We are trying to raise enough money to purchase a defibrillator and lockable cabinet located on Turnesc Grove, Thurnscoe. It will also be available for use by the surrounding community
After a scary incident with our youngest child we discovered that the one already in place at the One Stop can only be used at incidents happening within a 600m radius, a rule set by The Yorkshire Ambulance Service. If your emergency is outside this radius they will not release the defibrillator.
I have always assumed it would be available to anyone and it gave me some reassurance that if needed it would be easily assessable. It wasn't until we needed it and we were told it was out of range that I realised how important it was we did something to change this.
Once we get our defibrillator in place we plan to register it on the network so it will be available to everyone who needs it within a 600m radius which covers Lindley Crescent, Highgate School, Billingley Drive and part of High Street.
It will be locked and maintained by an electrical supply. In the event of an emergency Yorkshire Ambulance service will provide you with the code to open the cabinet if needed.
This is the expected coverage.
