On the 24th July 2023, 36 young people and 4 adults will meet for the final time before we embark on our journey to the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea. They will leave from Heathrow on the 25th July where they will spend nearly three weeks immersed in various cultures from across the world and sharing experiences like no other.

The World Scout Jamboree happens every four years and this time 173 countries from across the world will send 50,000 participants. This is not just an adventure, it is the largest global education event that will allow the young people to immerse themselves in a wealth of cultures and attitudes the likes of which they will have never experienced or are likely to experience again.

Over the past eighteen months the young people have been training and fundraising for this event like you would not believe. They have been cleaning, managing car parks, village fetes, craft fairs, gardening, running quiz nights, selling stuff online, painting and decorating, labouring, sewing, breaking up driveways and even busking.

When they were selected for this event in 2021 I promised them that if they worked hard and had fun along the way then I would shave off my precious moustache...

Based on their achievements and effort, its safe to say I need to uphold my promise and it has to come off, I love my tash, as you can see it has been with me on my travels for a darn long time. It has been seen on T-Shirts, up mountains and even on local media. I will be sad to see it go however a deal is a deal!

If I raise £1500 before we depart on the 24th July, the Unit members can vote as to when I shave it off, before we leave, in Korea or prior to our return. If not then I will decide when I shave it off although it will be before we set foot in the UK.
