To enable Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys to enter the Tunbridge Wells Soapbox race (In aid of Hospice In The Weald and Ellenor), we need to raise the funds to be able to participate in this event.

The purpose of this event (taking place on the 5th of May 2018) is to raise money for The Hospice In The Weald and Ellenor by hosting a large extravaganza in Dunorlan Park. At this event there will be a Soapbox race between 50 teams consisting of local businesses and schools. In addition to the race there will be celebrity commentator and prize-giving ceremony for race day, a music stage, food village, children’s entertainment with inflatables, zip wire and a supercar display.

The estimated turn out is estimated to be 10,000 people! Throughout the day there will be a large amount of media coverage where there will be opportunities to promote the teams and show off the karts they have produced. This will create a great opportunity to showcase and publicise the school, and our ambition to be the winning team!

However we cannot do this without your help. We need to raise the entry fee (which contributes to the charity as well as the set up cost of the event) that has kindly been reduced compared to the cost for businesses. As well as this we will also need to purchase the materials to fabricate our karts exterior, which will be one of the main characteristics to display our talents and ethos as a school. From the money funded through your donations we will be able to compete with the well funded businesses entering and show what a group of 16/17 year old's can achieve.

After entry and materials costs we will be donating all remaining money to Hospice In The Weald and Ellenor on behalf of the school. Therefore we are trying to raise as much money as possible for these amazing charities, which has such an impact on the local community. We hope that with your help we can provide some excellent competition/entertainment in the race and provide a donation big enough to achieve something amazing!
