Story

In November of last year Pearl had a sickness virus and suddenly went blue and floppy in the middle of breakfast. We called 999 and the Devon Air Ambulance was with us within 10-15 minutes. They were calm, reasurring and after making sure she was a nice normal colour again sent us to hospital in the land ambulance which had arrived by that point. Phew!

It’s vulnerable living in a remote location when you have a medical emergency and it is an incredible gift to know Devon Air Ambulance exists and it can make the difference between life and death in some instances.

The other thing that makes a difference for us is having hands on first aid training and that is why Widdytots & Widecombe Preschool recently organised a full paediatric first aid training for local parents so now Widecombe has 11 more fully trained first aiders in an emergency.

So right now we are feeling pretty grateful to the Devon Air Ambulance and our local preschool - both are charities which wouldn't survive without the generosity of the wider community - and we very much wanted to give something back. With that in mind we’ve organised a sponsored walk - The Two-and-a-bit Tors Challenge.

It starts at Saddle Tor on Sunday 8th of July at 11am and it is a shortish walk, to allow little fundraisers to take part. Older children can make it a bit longer by scaling Haytor. We will start from the Saddle Tor car park (we‘ll have a banner so you can’t miss us!). Please join us there (message me your email for a sponsorship form).

And if you can or can’t make it please, please support Wolfe, Pearl & Rainer by donating here (Its a crowdfunder becasue you can set just giving up to support two charities). Thank you in advance ❤️
