I've raised £4000 to complete our project in Groes Faen! We are installing a toilet and drinks making facility within the church to enhance community use.

Since St David's Church, Groes Faen (which is also considered to be the church of Creigiau) was built in 1892 hundreds of baptisms, weddings and funerals have taken place here with no toilet facility (let alone a baby changing facility and drinks making area)!
Now, in the 21st century we are being actively encouraged to open our churches for wider community use and three years ago, while planning some restoration work, the fabric committee decided we should create an area at the back of the church with a fully accessible toilet and small kitchen area to make the building more user friendly.
We would love to see the church used by local groups for meetings, entertainment or just a drop in for coffee and a natter...a hub for community life!
Since the closure of the Chapel in the village there is no public community building and there has been no Polling Station in the village as a toilet is a requirement.
A recent poll by the Community Councillor indicated a need for such an amenity. If you live locally and think you would like to use the Church as a meeting place for a small group once these crucial improvements have been made we’d love to hear from you.
Our aim is to ensure that St David’s becomes an even greater feature of the life of this community.
The Church authorities have already agreed to the project. A special committee called the Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) considered the plans and the rationale for our proposed adaptations of the building. The Committee comprises architects, clergy, representatives from CADW and other related bodies such as the Victorian society. They reflected on the proposals and recommended the project to the Diocesan Chancellor who has granted a faculty.
The cost of this project is being partly met by the Parish of Pentyrch to which we belong, by donations and grant applications. We also have a generous benefactor who is supplying much of the materials. The Church itself is beautifully kept and many of the faithful regular worshipers are enormously generous in their regular giving which ensures we can do the work of a local Church, but we have to fund raise to ensure this project becomes a reality.
We have ongoing fundraising events over the winter months to add to our target but if you cannot join us why not make a donation here online!!!
