Story
Guluddene School is situated to the north east of the Ugandan capital Kampala. It was set up in 1990 as a ‘sister day school’ to Mengo Hospital in order to cater for children with learning difficulties and/or multiple handicaps. In early 2000 a boarding element was introduced so that some of the older children could learn to become more independent. The school aims to encourage each child to develop as fully as possible - physically, emotionally, mentally, socially and spiritually. Unfortunately, the land that the school has occupied in the past will no longer be available, so having purchased some land and through donations and volunteers we are building a new school for the students. I went to Uganda 18 months ago with some students from my own school to help with digging the foundations for the first phase of the new school. In July this year I am returning again with another 10 students to help prepare the foundations for the next building. I am looking to raise £1100 which will go towards building costs for the new school. No donation is too small! Every penny will go towards making a better life for the students at the school.
