Support PC Mia Korell: Fighting for Justice and Equality

This page is dedicated to supporting PC Mia Korell, a devoted police officer and advocate for diversity, in her appeal against an unjust gross misconduct ruling from the Metropolitan Police Service.

On October 7th, 2022, Mia was accused of using a racist term during a conversation with Inspector Al Phillips. Despite a complete lack of corroborating evidence, the hearing favored Phillips’ testimony. The decision stands in stark contrast to Mia’s lifelong dedication to championing underrepresented officers and her PhD research into the experiences of Black officers in the Met. Mia maintains she never used such language and will continue to fight for justice.

**A Record of Advocacy and Courage**

Before joining the force, Mia was a teacher who left the classroom to inspire young Black women to pursue careers in policing. Once in the Met, she became a powerful force for change—leading initiatives, supporting marginalised voices, and implementing impactful diversity and inclusion strategies. Mia’s advocacy made the organization better for everyone.

**A History of Targeted Harassment**

Mia’s challenges began in 2020 with a domestic abuse investigation involving her older, higher-ranking ex-partner, who used his position and network to weaponise allegations against her. Despite facing arrest, internal restrictions, and blocked promotions, Mia persevered—passing her sergeant’s exam and turning her pain into purpose with her PhD research. Three and a half years later, Mia was fully exonerated, and a criminal investigation into her ex began.

Shockingly, while the investigation into him continues, he remains active in frontline policing, unsuspended.

**Further Injustice and Trauma**

Mia faced yet another traumatic ordeal when five officers unlawfully entered her home in 2023, arrested her partner, and then arrested her while she had newborn dependent on breastfeeding. This event triggered severe PTSD, and a subsequent 18-month investigation into Mia was launched—based on unfounded suspicions of fraud. Like before, the case was eventually dropped with no findings against her.

**The January 2025 Hearing: Another Blow**

Despite her unblemished advocacy for Black officers and diversity, Mia was found guilty of making a racist remark based solely on the word of a higher-ranking officer linked to her abuser. She was handed a five-year written warning, extending her ordeal to a decade. This decision is yet another example of systemic racism, misogyny, and the Met’s failure to support those fighting for justice within the organisation.

**Why Mia Needs Your Support**

Mia has been subjected to relentless character assassination and professional sabotage. Yet, she remains a devoted mother, wife, and friend who leads by example, standing for what is right no matter the personal cost. Mia’s fight isn’t just for herself—it’s for all underrepresented officers and victims of systemic injustice. By supporting her appeal, you’re standing for equality and justice.

Would you be willing to donate what you can to help Mia cover legal expenses and continue her recovery from this harrowing ordeal? Every contribution is a stand against racism, misogyny, and abuse of power.

Thank you for standing with Mia. Together, we can demand accountability and justice.
