Story
UKMON was established in 2012 as the first meteor detection network in the UK. Since then the team of amateur astronomers grew to 100+ and helped a successful recovery of Winchcombe meteorite. With this milestone achieved UKMON is now fully focused on building a community of new citizen scientists and with such an unprecedented interest, the costs of running the network are increasing. Groups.io, website running costs and computing power necessary to process increasing amount of data every morning are all paid by volunteers.
With your help we aim to provide the best place for newcomers gain their knowledge and help build strong network here in the UK.

UK Meteor Network
2 years agoI want to thank all our wonderful supporters for your donations. The contributions you are making are already making a real difference. Server costs are covered, and our website, especially UKMON live, is being enjoyed by thousands worldwide. Just recently, UKMON donated 500 fireball challenge medals to local astronomy groups and schools to motivate youngsters to look up. Our network has grown up to 150 cameras, and we'll continue to monitor the night sky in the hope of that next meteorite producing fireball.
