Iʼve raised £1,000 to donate supplies to the Newcastle Polish Centre, helping Ukrainian refugees seeking sanctuary in Poland.
- Newcastle, UK.
- Funded on Wednesday, 29th June 2022
Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
According to the UN, as of 1st March 2022 600,000 civilians have fled Ukraine due to the horrific attack on their country by Russian armed forces. Poland so far has taken in over 377,000 refugees, with over 50,000 estimated to be arriving every day.
We all can – and must – do something to help.
The Polish White Eagle Center in Newcastle is taking donations to send supplies to Poland, to help anyone seeking refuge. They require critical medical supplies and personal hygiene products.
Many small hubs around the North East have agreed to become collection drop off centres to assist the Polish Centre. The collective efforts of everybody donating and volunteering will have an impact on people arriving at the Polish border, whose lives have been devastated by the events of recent days.
I will be using donations to purchase supplies and delivering them to the Ryton Health Hub, one of the drop of centres in the network, who will then deliver them to the Polish Center. Specifically, personal hygiene products such as toothbrushes and toothpaste for adults and children, soaps, shower gels, shampoos and sanitary products. As well as first-aid kids, bandages, plasters, gloves and vitamins.
Every donation counts, no matter how big or small. Thank you for your support.

3 years agoHi everyone, a final update on this crowdfund, and to start with a huge thank you to everyone who supported and contributed to it. Our final amount was £1000, which is far higher than the initial target of £250 I had hoped for! This has allowed me to buy critical supplies needed to donate the centre, who are doing amazing work and have accumulated an incredible amount of supplies, filling 223 palettes they are now shipping to Poland. Here's a link to their Facebook page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/osrodekpolski (1/2)

3 years agoHi everyone, just an update to let you know I am now directly communicating with the Polish Centre in Newcastle to understand how best to use the money we have raised. They are inundated with generous donations – the response has been unbelievable. With £970 in total we now are determining how best to spend it and which supplies are needed most. I'm also speaking to suppliers to buy items in bulk to make the money go as far as it can. I'll update when there's more progress, just wanted to keep you updated and say thank you again! ❤️ 🇺🇦
