Story

According to the UN, as of 1st March 2022 600,000 civilians have fled Ukraine due to the horrific attack on their country by Russian armed forces. Poland so far has taken in over 377,000 refugees, with over 50,000 estimated to be arriving every day.

We all can – and must – do something to help.

The Polish White Eagle Center in Newcastle is taking donations to send supplies to Poland, to help anyone seeking refuge. They require critical medical supplies and personal hygiene products.

Many small hubs around the North East have agreed to become collection drop off centres to assist the Polish Centre. The collective efforts of everybody donating and volunteering will have an impact on people arriving at the Polish border, whose lives have been devastated by the events of recent days.

I will be using donations to purchase supplies and delivering them to the Ryton Health Hub, one of the drop of centres in the network, who will then deliver them to the Polish Center. Specifically, personal hygiene products such as toothbrushes and toothpaste for adults and children, soaps, shower gels, shampoos and sanitary products. As well as first-aid kids, bandages, plasters, gloves and vitamins.

Every donation counts, no matter how big or small. Thank you for your support.
