Story

Help Ukrainian refugee young people in Nottingham support Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital

In Nottingham, a group of Ukrainian refugee young people are turning their experience of displacement into something powerful: fundraising for Children’s Hospital in Kyiv by making music.

They are USB — Ukrainian School Band, formed in 2022 in response to the arrival of Ukrainian children forced to flee their homes and settled in Nottingham area.

On 24 February 2026, the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, USB will release their debut original single “Dodomu” (“Home”)”, with a music video on YouTube. The song was written and performed by the young people, telling a story of displacement — searching for warmth, safety, and a sense of home — while holding onto hope and keeping strong.

This original and fully produced release is not only a huge a milestone for USB. It’s a fundraiser led by young refugee people, to support Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv, which was severely damaged in a Russian missile strike in 2024.

All donations through this page will go towards helping the hospital continue providing critical care for children.

USB is led by creative producer Iryna Muha and is supported by an Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grant, Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.

Your donation helps turn their music into direct support for children in Ukraine — from one young generation to another.

Thank you for standing with them, and for helping music do what it does best: turn pain into action.
