Story

We’re fundraising to support the 2024 Ulverston Lantern Festival.

Every year thousands turn-out to watch as a parade of community-made paper and wicker lanterns form a spectacular river of light through Ulverston, Cumbria.

The event has been going for over 40 years now and is a highlight of the festival town’s busy events calendar.

It’s run entirely by volunteers and paid for with sales of lantern kits and your brilliant donations, which are needed more than ever this year in the face of rising costs.

With your help this year’s event will take place on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 14 with lanterns created on the theme of Story Time featuring everything from Minataurs to Moomins, Wild Things to Witches.

Lantern kits (£6) are on sale in August across the town at Appleseeds, The Book Shack (Indoor Market), The Coronation Hall, The Cumbria Way Gift Shop and Croftlands Launderette.

Workshops at The Coronation Hall from Sunday, 8th Sept (2-6pm) and 9th-13th Sept (5:30-8:30pm).

Please help us keep the Lantern Festival shining by clicking some £s into the kitty.

THANK-YOU ALL for helping keep this much-loved festival alive.

Shine on 🕯️
