Story
I have always wanted to do volunteering but could not find a cause that resonated with me until I came across a charity based in Cambodia, it’s called Volunteer Building Cambodia. After a lot of fact finding, I decided to start the conversation with VBC and discovered their cause to very noble and inspiring. I wanted to give something back to humanity and what better way than to build houses in rural Cambodia for families who barely have a roof over their heads. As you may be aware the Cambodian people and country were decimated by the despotic regime of the Khmer Rouge in the seventies where an estimated 1.5-2.0 million people were killed through starvation, execution, disease or overwork.
I am looking to raise enough funds to build two houses in memory of my beloved brother Subhash and brother-in-law Satishbhai who both sadly passed away pre-maturely. Although they were my relatives, more than that I regarded them as my role models. My mentors. We laughed together, we cried together, we golfed together but more than anything, we partied together. Oh..how I miss them.
I have funded my own flights, accommodation and transfers in this respect together with the small fees charged by VBC, any extra received by them is put towards funding a house build.
I hope you will all see, as I do, that this is indeed a very worthwhile cause and dig deep and make a generous contribution no matter how small.
