I need your help to raise money in order for me to be able to remain legally in the UK with my husband, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation after suffering a brain injury.

The 13th of July 2016 was the beginning of a painful journey for me. I received a devastating call. My dear husband, who had been studying for a master’s degree in the UK, collapsed and suffered severe brain injuries. As soon as all my documents were ready, I rushed to the UK from Nigeria in order to see him. The journey was a tormenting wait. But I was in for worse.

When I first saw him in Leicester General Hospital his physical state made me sad. But his mental state made me weep. He didn't know where he was, or – more painfully – who I was. After a long journey to recovery, he has since been moved to a rehabilitation centre. But when I'm not with him, he often runs away from the centre and is found wandering the streets helplessly. I cannot describe how I feel. The man I married is gone, but I will continue to cherish the person who remains.

It’s been a difficult and tormenting journey, we haven’t seen the children in over a year. Without my presence, my husband’s sanity declines even more, which is not helping his recovery.
