UPDATE 09/06/20 - FINALLY after 6 weeks we now have the HSE investigating (Health & Safety Exec). Whilst this is great news this will only establish and legally count to the symptoms the people suffered (of which there are several). We need to keep raising money to fund the animal investigation so we can stop this happening to other animals!
UPDATE 02/06/20 - Investigations are going well and we do expect to have conclusive answers if we can get the animal tissues tested. Funds are so badly needed to help us. Please please continue to share - every single £ raised will help.

Six weeks ago, totally out of the blue, my friends' three beloved and healthy equines died within 36 hours of each other.
Although initially Grass Sickness was suspected, when two local dogs mysteriously also died, six others became ill, lots of rabbits were found deceased, and people in the village experienced symptoms of chemical exposure, and field margins and bridleway greenery has died away, the focus shifted to the more likely cause being neurotoxicity.
Sadly the fourth pony died before the cause has been identified. The Police are actively investigating but cannot carry out forensics on the equines.
“Various authorities have told us it is not their remit” when to the affected people it clearly is. How can deaths of horses, dogs, wild animals and ill people not be related to Health and Safety?
The local council have put a vague sign on a bridleway close to the affected area which at the very least may get seen as people visit, but it is far from detailed in the dangers that could present themselves.
As Grass Sickness now seems VERY unlikely they won't rest until they get the answers. What has caused this? They are appealing to fellow animal lovers to help raise funds to continue their investigation into the cause of death (horses are insured and they are not seeking funds to cover their vet bills). In no way is this a campaign to finger point or blame, but simply we need to find answers before we can move on. We will share our findings with the aim of helping to prevent others from suffering this way.
The tests needed to be conducted are on the stored organs of the deceased horses and ponies as well as on the land, environment and other affected plants and animals. The cost for ONE sample of soil is £70 + VAT and in order to find answers it is possible that over 50 samples will be required.
Blood analysis on one equine is over £400 and that is just the generic starting point.
For the last three weeks the grieving owners have worked 12 hour days collecting samples, taking photos and talking to people who have also been affected.
The main aim of this campaign is to get justice for the animals affected and raise awareness that all is not always as it first appears. We cannot get those four gorgeous horses back but we CAN and we WILL get answers to help others going forward.
Any excess funds raised will be donated to an equine charity that is also working to establish the causes of sudden equine death, and to aid them with their research.
