I've raised £1000 to Raise money for Student Minds and Nightline, whilst raising awareness of mental well-being in sport

Mental well-being in sport - unfortunately this isn't a phrase you hear everyday. As a sports club, we are aiming to challenge this stigma surrounding mental health in a sporting context and want to highlight just how large an effect exercise can have on improving metal well-being.
We're raising money for two charities local to Nottingham: Nightline - A confidential listening and information service, run by students, for students at the University of Nottingham. Student Minds, a nationwide campaigns group that works to promote positive wellbeing and mental health for students
"For my physical recreation section I had chosen running and I decided I'd take up the sport again. To begin with, it was tough. Just a few paces made me out of breath. But I persevered, using a "couch to 5k" app on my phone to coach me through my training. Gradually, I rediscovered that I loved to run. I began to lose a bit if weight - and found that my mental health was improving too. Running gave me time to think and yet not think, almost like a form of meditation" -- John May, Secretary General of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
We're aiming to achieve our goal through running a series of events and challenges throughout the year, culminating in the completion of the Three Peaks Challenge!
We've been featured in the sports magazine Horse and Hound and hope that our campaign will start a conversation about sport and mental well-being that's long overdue.
