    Story

Unsworth Football Club was established in 1974 and serves the whole community giving children from 5 years old all the way through to adult hood a place to play football, socialise and really feel part of the community.

Whilst the main focus of the club is for children to play football it takes on a more important role of nurturing children helping them grow as people, the coaches aim to create great people before great players, this in turn helps prepare them for life not just football, which is of great benefit to them and the whole community.

The club is run entirely through volunteers from the Chairman and Club Secretary to the coaches cleaners and groundsmen. What little money we make we always reinvest back into the club.

We are currently in need of new posts, the ones we have been using for the best part of 20 years are in desperate need of replacement after their long service.

As a club we are also looking at expanding our teams to hopefully have an open age 1st team and reserve team which will provide our young adults from U18's teams the opportunity to stay with the club for years to come. To do this however we will need to upgrade our clubhouse facilities to provide hot water to the showers as this is a league requirement.

We would also like to add girls teams at some point in the future so we can cater for the whole community which again means more equipment such a goalposts.

Keeping the pitches in a state for the children to play football can be very tricky and costly, we do get some help from the council in the summer months however we have to rely mainly on volunteers and a second hand ride on mower which tends to breakdown a lot costing more money, ideally we'd like to replace this and give the kids a surface to play on that's the envy of every team on the league.

Great commitment from the coaches who give up their time, lets all contribute what we can....drainage might be better than goalpost! ;-)
