On Tuesday 3rd November, a category 4 hurricane with winds of 150mph struck Central America, including Nicaragua and Honduras, two countries GB supports and sends regular brigades to. Over 300,000 people have been displaced and their communities destroyed by flooding and landslides. This number is likely to evolve overtime.

In August 2019, a group of students from the University of Birmingham took part in a Medical Brigade to Honduras with Global Brigades. Some of the current committee are still in touch with some people from Honduras and were devastated to see the aftermath of Hurricane Eta. Many people seem to be unaware that there even was a Hurricane, most likely due to the news cycles being dominated by COVID-19 and the US Elections. Therefore,  UoB Global Brigades Chapters and friends from other universities will take part in a 2 week run/walk/cycle challenge, from November the 16th to November the 30th, to raise money to support the hurricane crisis in Central America. Hurricane Eta has affected both Honduras and Nicaragua, two countries that GB supports and sends brigades to. GB have planned to send a brigade on November 10th to the Valle de Sula area but need funding to set up clinics to offer medical assistance.
