Story
Have you heard of CranioSacral Therapy? Have you experienced it? It is a hands on approach to bodywork that has extraordinary potential to help people. Because of our experience and direct observation of this time and again, we decided to find a way to help bring this therapy to more people. Especially those who have longer term challenges not yet overcome with conventional approaches.
Upledger Community Programmes CIC, is a not for profit social enterprise started by Caro O'Neil & Caroline Barrow. We are now raising funds to put on our first programme - a five day Intensive Therapy Programme for a group of injured-on-duty, and thus early retired, police officers still suffering with PTSD.
This approach is well established in our sister organisation in the USA and has helped many people make huge improvements in their symptoms and overall well being. We were both privileged to be part of a programme in Florida last November working with a group of veterans. Here's what Patricia said about it:
I was able to release the emotion that was stuck, from my body. I was able to view things from a whole different perspective. My view of the world is really different right now. This was amazing, to be able to release the trauma from so long ago. It's given me a new lease of life. This treatment should be made more available.
So we thought...it's time we made this available here in the UK.
This is our first programme and next year we hope to be able to offer more treatment for the emergency services who are working on the front line, from London to Manchester... for us all.
The funds required are for the cost of hiring a venue, employing the qualified therapists and programme leaders from the USA and paying our primary therapists. We already have 17 wonderful volunteer therapists who are giving their time for free to help make this programme work. Previous attendees also know this is hugely important piece:
