Story
A bit about UCC
As you can see from the photo our current practice facilities are a little worse for wear and they are now in desperate need of improving as Upwood Cricket Club expands it’s numbers.

In recent years the Club, a small village side in Cambridgshire, has managed to buck the national and local trend and increase the number of juniors and adults playing cricket. We have produced some really great young players in the past and continue to do so to the present day. We also host training and games for the Hunts County Girls and Boys age group teams.

We have also given opportunities to older players who although maybe not the best are keen, love the wonderful game of cricket but are not be able to get a game for a bigger club.
As a village side we have struggled with ensuring our facilities are adequate but these have improved significantly in recent years with the help of some grants, sponsorship and income generated by the club.
New Nets
Most recently, we have secured a grant of £16,750 from Sports England to buy some new nets but unfortunately they are going to cost £33,428! Once constructed these will allow us to continue the development of youngsters and adults from Upwood and the surrounding area and keep village cricket alive! We have kindly had the balance loaned to us but the club needs to have paid it back over the next few years. No more grants will now be available for this project.
Can you help?
We are therefore looking at generating £16,678 pounds as soon as possible to pay off the loan.
We will look at all sorts of ways to find the money but anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated. The new nets will allow our current juniors to continue to develop safely and allow for many more years of succesful child and adult cricket in Upwood. Neil Tuffin - Club Junior Co-ordinator.
